What is AI Discovery?

AI Discovery measures how easily AI shopping assistants can read, understand, and recommend your products. Unlike traditional search, where keywords and links drive rankings, AI assistants look for clear, structured information that helps them answer shopping questions confidently.

The AI Discovery sub-score on your dashboard shows how well your catalog meets these requirements.

On each product page, the AI Discovery Breakdown shows per-assistant discoverability. You can see how each product looks to different assistants and which signals are worth improving.

AI Visibility Monitoring (Authority plan)

On the Authority plan, Claridex periodically checks whether your store is mentioned when AI assistants answer shopping questions related to your products.

AI-readable catalog index

Shopify serves basic AI discovery files for every store. Claridex adds a richer, product-level index of your catalog through the Shopify App Proxy, with pricing, availability, and attributes in a format designed for AI crawlers. It is generated automatically and updated when your catalog changes -- no action needed on your part. AI crawler support for index files like these is still emerging, so treat this as a complement to strong product content, not a substitute for it.

How to improve AI Discovery

  1. Focus on content completeness. AI assistants prefer products with detailed, specific descriptions over thin or generic ones.
  2. Add specific attributes. Materials, dimensions, use cases, and compatibility details help AI assistants match your products to shopper questions.
  3. Use highlights. Structured bullet points are easier for AI to parse than long prose paragraphs.
  4. Add FAQ content. Question-and-answer pairs directly address the types of queries shoppers ask AI assistants.
  5. Write descriptive alt text. "Blue ceramic mug with gold handle, 12oz" tells an AI far more than "product-image-1.jpg."
